Hi Guys, are we forgetting that Myford, the original one, once supplied tangential toolholders?

This was the 'easy-set' toolholder, and designed to slap straight on to the topslide. Uses circular HSS. There's a photo of a set at the bottom of the page for this advert on 'lathes'…

Funnily, I have just acquired one of these to try. I have been using AR Warner HSS inserts to improve finish on an indexable tool, and thought I would give one of these older systems a bash.

Point is that it should provide for the simplest setting and regrinding of HSS tools for the less confident/ experienced, by which I mean me.

        Cheers, Colin

Hi Collin, that's the kit but from that picture you can't see the squared ends of the other 'inserts'. I bought an unused set at a SMEE rummage sale, was not overly impressed compared to one of my homemade but have not experimented with varying the top rake yet, maybe one day.

This thread put me in mind of a tangential flycutter. Found this link

            **LINK**

but to me it looks as tho the tool is angled wrong and has negative clearance against the cut face. it should be angled the opposite way. Or am I missing something?
