Found these on Ebay and wondered if anyone had any experience with them. Clearly not up to a Parvalux but quite a price difference

          Hi Pete

They come in different wattage up to 500 watts I think. I couldnt use them in my 5 inch 0-4-0 as it is only 12volt single battery so took a different route, I have considered them for a future project though. I think quite a few people are using them and I havnt heard anything bad about them other than their wattage is often not what is claimed on the label. What loco are you planning to put it in..?

Thanks for that Ron. Think I will give one a go then, at the price. Was planing on something like your projuct, might go with something metal bodied similar to Elf or Trojan as a shunter. Perhaps a wooden body along the lines of Toby, mate of Thomas.

Did consider a 0-6-0 with one axle, the rear? with no flanges on the wheels. Comments welcome

I've used similar motor from children scooters which I bought from car boot sales, when I made an 0-6-0 shunter, and they worked well, mine were 12 volt. Having had second look at Pete's picture I think they are the same make but 24 volt The batteries had failed on the scooters and so had the chargers. I also think the sprocket has a left hand thread, I remember making a sort of chain spanner.to use when removing the sprocket. Our local bearing dealer stock a range of sprockets, chain and links to fit. I might have some spare 12 volt motors in the garage. John

Always the middle without flanges, at least in full size.

Thanks for that John, that information on the suitability clinkes the deal then. I will send a p.m. about what you might have in your stach.

Neil, I initially thought the middle one, but opted for end to keep the wheel base as short as possible for the tight radius curves that I have planned. Does it matter much either way I wonder ?

It has to be the middle with no flange, or you have a very short guided wheelbase and it will wobble badly an may try to climb up the tack on corners.
