That's easy, I would never dream of frying a steak cheeky

Then we'd probably chuck you out the window. The perfect steak is either fried or ideally grilled over hot charcoal.

No need to chuck me out of the window, BBQ is the only way to cook steak cheeky

I'm only a 'model engineer' in the sense that we don't have a better term for having small machine tools in the cellar.

Other hobbies are bell ringing – I've just got in from one of the tower practices that I go to – modified cars, and cycling.

I enjoy track days in my old Triumph

I'm a National A Stage Rally Navigator, last event was last weekend, 16th overall in an MX5 against much faster kit…

I enjoy mountain biking, but although it should be quite a social hobby I'm always too embarrassed to do with groups of people despite often being asked. I'm missing a leg and the thought of slowing up a group of competent cyclists really worries me, so for now its a solitary pursuit (although my girlfriend often comes along now, which is nice)

Again, only "Model" engineer in that I'm an older model, whose engineering interests are related to making and mending bits for old motorbikes, Landrovers and Kitcar.

I guess I also use the workshop(s) to make bits for the workshop(s)

Garage/Machine shop, Garage/Vehicular with pit and bike bench, and spare bedroom for the clean electronic'optical stuff.

            Other interests;

Nature/wildlife/walking- all seem to complement each other

            Photography

Riding and driving the assorted vehicles in the garages.

Model Aeroplane flying. Good fun as I am in a great club, with some really helpful guys. If one has a problem there is always 4 heads in the plane making suggestions. They do not always know the answer, but all willing to try & help!!!

But mainly sailing (single handed). Been round UK twice single handed. Last year I was presented with some goodies by the Royal North Sea Yacht Club in Belgium to commemorate my 75 Th visit to Ostend. First visit was in 1970. I have cruised from Amsterdam & almost as far as La Rochelle & go to the Channel Islands most years

I also sail a single handed racing dinghy when not on my yacht. Yesterday I was on the club support boat rescuing capsized dinghies as for the last 15 years I have crewed the RIB for the winter series.( gets a bit cold so I have stopped racing it in the winter, just doing support boat ie laying marks etc & pulling others out of the oggin now)

I have had a lathe for over 50 years (originally a Drummond type M, plus a Colchester Master & now a Warco 250MV) & had a Myford wood turning lathe that my father bought for me when I was 12/13 years old.

Under the heading of hobbiesor interests which are all sort of interrelated to "Model Engineering " i would include 3D printing , CNC stuff & electronics .

Other than that Fishing/ camping , boating and 4wd , motor racing and Rugby league .

Used to target shoot but got sick of the travel and costs but still love the ballistic sciences , occasionally have a crack on playstation although this is nowdays becoming a rare event .

I do have a fairly broad interest in history , archeology, palaeontology etc but these are really only satellite interests .

I really try to keep my interests to a fairly narrow field as i am easily distracted and tend to go off on a tangent at the drop of a hat !

Football, cricket and golf, in that order.

I played football until I was 35, cricket until 55 and golf I started at 11 and still playing.

The latter is the main reason why I make such painfully slow progress with my model engines. I spend far to much time honing and fine tuning my golf swing instead of honing and fine tuning my engines. My choice though, I only have myself to blame.

Can be summed up by the following.

Lathe:- machine to make parts for milling machine.

Milling machine:- machine to make parts for lathe.

                            Also like electronics and microcontrollers.

Hmmm, electronics, photography, astronomy. Very popular here too. Too many cloudy nights and city glare for skywatching, but I combined two and built a series of radio telescopes. However, all can be done at home, in the winter and alone if required. As you know, I write, Practical Wireless and Radcom, in the main, but many other, mostly science-based, for instance I just made my first microwave radio system, and transmitted my voice across the room, with no prestidigitation, hidden assistants or optical illusions, and at no time did my hands ever leave my arms!

Then there are railways, of all sizes, industrial history, real ale, reading, (NF) listening to music, aviation, that'll do for now…

The Model engineering side includes building my own 3D printers, building a Laser Cutter and modifying my milling machine for CNC.

                                  Other hobbies include:

                                  Archery

                                  Electronics

                                  Photography

Not a hobby as such but seem to spend large amounts of time on DIY

Stalled hobby – my VW Beach Buggy that I used to drag race.

Light engineering, I have a lathe and vertical milling machine, 6×4 band saw, and a stick welder, light engineering because my little hot air motors are my design, not models of full size motors. I also make parts for (mainly) vintage machinery.

Other interests are aviation, and photography. My means of transport is a push bike, 6 months or so I ?upgraded to an E-bike, that has extended the range of my travels. Here is the bike and the trailer that I use. At the time of the photo the hitch has not been fitted to the bike.

That makes at least 3 bellringers on this forum. I'm in Oxfordshire (there is another ringing Brian Curtis in the New Forest area), although I'm somewhat lapsed at the moment) and I believe Julian Atkins is also a ringer. Where's your home tower?
