Help with Super 7 Industrial Cabinet Wiring Needed

Hi,

I have a single phase Myford Super 7, I did not get a cabinet with it, so I have just bought an industrial style cabinet for it.

I think the cabinet is wired for 3 phase. See pics below:

The loose switch in the pictures is the coolant switch.

I have some specific questions:

1, Can anybody confirm this is a panel for a 3 phase motor?

2, Can anybody confirm a rewiring scheme to wire up my single phase motor?

3, The panel has high and low speed, that I believe would require special 2 speed motor, single or 3 phase. Is that true?

4, Are my options limited to ? :

4a, Rewire for single phase

4b, Install an inverter. If so am I correct in thinking I need a three phase motor, as well as an inverter?

4C Any other options?

The coil voltage on the contactor is going to need to be 240v for a single phase panel, it may be simpler to replace the contactor if it is 415v as tracking down a 240 coil is likely to be difficult. It may be possible to unwind some turns from the coil bobbin if you fancy a challenge.

The two speed motor would make it likely that the cabinet was for a Trilever ML7.

Apart from the contactor issue it should be possible to rewire for single phase.

A VFD is almost universally recommended, they have some limitations but the pluses trump the negatives for most people.

I can check that by wiring to 240 and checking it operates OK. Will post results.
