Start of a project making this little Ic engine.  Looking at the ignition side of things, the I.O.W supplier has closed his business and was quite expensive anyway.

Would one of these HV generators (as used in gas ignitors) work as an ignition system ??

Yep they work with a couple of simple metal contacts. higher the voltage the faster they spark and give the effect of a traditional trembler coil.

I used an ignition spares kit for one of the ready made model hit and miss engines that are all over ebay.  That doesn’t seem to be available any more but this from AliExpress looks similar and seems to include a Hall effect trigger.
