Made some 'wrought iron' door handles, used hot rolled square section steel, some where about 1/2", and after turning fancy ends on them , put them in the vice, heat with the gas, and twist with a spanner. Ian S C

Update on twists. While at Harrowgate I noticed the beautiful paddle steamer had twists to support the canopy.When I asked how they were done It was a case of holding one end in the toolpost and turning the chuck. Saw this :
