Hi All,
I finally got to catch up with a car that I used to drive at least once a week back in the 70’s because when we moved our stock around in our very small garage showroom in Holland Park Mews, Kensington; this was the one car that could NEVER be put away cold as we would never be able to restart it without a huge problem. I have followed its history over the following decades as it became more and more famous.
My route used to be: down the Mews; right onto Melbury Road; left up towards the Shepherds Bush roundabout; turn right then out to the Polish War Memorial; turn round back into town; all along the Westway then back to the Mews.
I spent many hours cleaning the alloy Borranis with Autosol before FOC outings; we did lots of re chrome work and re crackle of rocker covers etc before we sold it to the chap who sold it to its present owner. Not to anything like the standard it is in now, totally perfect in every way.
As I was caning it the whole time it was now good and hot! We bought the car that carried the number plate as you had to back then and it has been on the car ever since.
Have you guessed it yet?
