        Gentlemen,

I've spent a couple of evenings searching the web for a source of drawings for a 3" Sentinel, specifically the body work. All of the mechanicals will be dummy so I can create that from engine pictures I've taken but can anybody point me in the right direction.

        Thank you,

        Martin P

I can't think of any published model drawings in any scale. Probably have to see where the factory archive is kept or contact the drivers club and see if you can get some full size drawings and scale them down. You could PM Diane to see if she can point you in the right direction.

There have been a couple featured in the mag over the years but can't recall what if any drawings were included.

              Hi Martin,

You could try the Traction Talk web site. It is a site for full size and model steam engines and there are some members with Sentinel trucks. You will probably have to join the site before you can make any posts. The members in the model section may be able to tell you where to get drawings.

Because you have said that all of the mechanicals will be dummy, I assume that you are not making a working model and therefore you may be interested in downloading files for 3D printing a Sentinel from thingiverse. These are not drawings but some CAD software is able to convert the .stl files used for 3D printing into 3D CAD models and 2D drawings.

                Paul,

As said in another thread it will be based on a mobility scooter, you can by a kit, approx £1800, I consider that a little steep for my pocket and for me its basic and I would like to mock up a boiler and engine, I have the machines to make the parts and boiler so I going to give it a go. I've just bought another mobility scooter for me to use and it just happens that the old one is going to be the base.

                    Martin,

Blackgates Engineering are suppliers to model engineers of drawings, castings, tools and materials, including a 2" Clayton steam lorry.

                      Jason,

Thanks didnt know that, I've tried to PM Diane but there are several Diane's and I dont know her surname.  Paul, I looked at Blackgates last night and found it a very un friendly site to navigate, I still had trouble after you said there was a clayton there.

Next stupid question, to upscale from 2" to 3" do I halve the 2" dim then add the half to the 2" to get 3" i.e 250% = 1+2=3"

                        Diane Carney

Easier to just multiply by 1.5

Reeves also do the Clayton as well as a 3" Atkinson. They also have a 4" Foden that would have been diesel in full size but the drawings are for Honda power.

                          Jason,

Again thank you for your help, never had to scale anything before so I've learned a lot today, my TV has died this evening so plenty of computer time looking for info.
