Hi.i am looking for a supplier of bronze or gun metal boiler valves. This is for a 5 inch gauge locomotive. Anyone know of a supplier.i have tried all the main ones with know luck.thanks.terry
If you use good quality brass there should be no problem – everyone else does. Im sure no one makes fittings out of bronze as they would be so expensive and no one would buy them. But im open to being wrong!
I think most of the fittings from R A Baker are from LG2 gunmetal but are more suited to traction engines than locos. It should only be the ones in contact with the boiling water than may be prone to attack.
I have started to make my own valves.at the moment I have machined the injector and blower valves, and the two fittings for the water gauge. I would like to make a few inline clack valves but dont have any good drawings.michael
