All first built before my time but all still about and racing, doubt if any will venture out on this race **LINK** think they may take a little longer than last years record of 2hrs 52mins, not bad for 50 miles and only the wind to blow you along.

Back to something like the topic- Black Bostic was mentioned earlier. Seems like it is long gone, too smelly ?. Anybody know of a good alternative ? I've tried most common stuff, nothing is as good as a stick anything to anything strong glue.

Yes, used to use Black Bostic for sealing TV aerial connections in the 1960s.

There are now lots of very effective polyurethane adhesives which will do a better job. I've just fixed a solar panel to the roof of my camper-van with a Sikaflex structural adhesive. There is also a good range of Loctite polyurethane adhesives/sealants.

You are probably better matching materials to adhesive as there is no such adhesive as anything to anything or at least not with success on all.

If you are trying to stick rubber to wood then Loctite do a product for sticking rubber terokal 2444.

Thanks for that, just as I suspected. Trouble is all the new stuff is expensive and I have to buy several different tubes of stuff which has gone solid next time I need it. Also have to buy online and wait for delivery,no good with a hole in my boot.

Have you come across "Stixall"? its in a pump tube, about £6 it dries to a hard rubbery like consistency and its excellent for sealing the rubbish Wickes stop cocks into their water butts – loads of moulding flash and displaced moulding lines. I came across it at a redundant stock clearance shop at £2.5,
