Ron, I am in Kings Bromley on the main A513 so you most likely pass my house on your way to Rugeley.

I am not a model maker bikes are my love in life.

      Chris.

                Hi Ron,

I have also been watching this build with interest. Great news on a successful run, well done! I am a new member at SCMES having just purchased and overhauled my first engine (little 5" gauge AJAX 0-4-0)

I work in Tamworth and live in aldridge, maybe we will cross paths sometime. Will you be running your engine at little hay, i presume like myself you are a recent new member?

                Best regards, Phil

Well over the moon today finally got my Clacks from Royal slow mail very exited to finally be able to fit them with confidence now.

Massive Thank you to Julian Atkins for finishing them as they should have been when I bought them.

Pity the suppliers where a bit more like Julian and check stuff they buy from China to make sure the goods are ok before selling.

Thank you again Julian you really are Brilliant

A quick update – Ron received his altered check valves from me this am but had to go down to his sorting office and pay a surcharge, which is odd as the package was weighed on Monday at my local Post Office and was OK for ordinary post.

                    Cheers,

                    Julian

I have had this from our post office before I think they are a law for them selfs. It's crazy one says ok then the other not. Thank you again Julian I really thought they had lost them so £1.50 is nothing compared to replacing them and then having to get them machined again to work. You have been amazing thank you again Julian.

                      All the very Best Ron

Hi Guys well Loco is ready to be tested weather permitting Wed would have been Sunday but wife was poorly.

So looking forward to trying it again thanks to Julia Atkins i should be able to run on my injectors now.

I have fitted both injectors also have my hand pump decided not to fit axle pump as yet i am going to do one stage at a time if it fails it will be easier to sort out.

my only regret is we have now lost all the lovely summer for running shame but that's life.

If it had not been for Julian it would never had been running he is even sorting my new injector i bought that did not work.

Julian found a piece of brass in it plus sealer and a loose jet once again he is doing my injector so i can use it but what is more amazing he sent me one of his own injectors to use whilst he does it.

Considering he has never met met me not only all the work but all the brilliant advice he has given me i want to say a public Thank you.

I would also like to thank every one else for all their valuable advice and help as a novice its so very hard but you have all helped me to get a big smile running my loco so THANK YOU ALL.

                        Ron

Well folks can say Julian Atkins re machined Clack valves all worked a treat it was so nice to run the Loco without the problems what a top bloke indeed. My only problem was me learning to keep water and fire in but sure now i can drive it will be soon getting up to speed on it. i did have a couple problems first a nut came of brake mechanism secong with 4 on lack of pulling power think i will have to change blast nozle. i have a 11/32 in at moment but have several i can screw in to try i not sure whether to go larger or smaller. it pulls great two up but steady with 4 or maybe it could be me not yet used to it, but massive thank you to Julian i think without his help i would never got it up and running. Now looking forward if its not raining as its friends and family day Sat try and have some more fun at our Rugeley Track

Been altering more of my Black 5 today after speaking with Julian. I had drilled out the petticoat pipe to a straight 1 14 instead of the taper. I have made an insert with a taper from 78 to the 1 14 at the top as Julian suggested. I found it did not have the pulling power i expected with a load on so i asked Julian for more advice found i had made the mistake when machining the Petticoat pipe hope it makes some difference as we have friends and family day at the club tomorrow if its dry. So nice to get involved in it and join in instead of just being a onlooker.

Ok see what weather is and hopefully another good day tomorrow all thanks again to Julian true Model engineer thank you Julian

Ron, I was all set to ride over today until the rain set in for the day. Was a pity because hundreds of bikes out on the ride to the wall. (National Arboretum for those not in the area)
