Mitutoyo Dial INdicator question

I bought an older Mitutoyo Dial Indicator with broken glass few years back, used it, but recently had it repaired and fixed, guy said everything is ok no parts needed, accurate, only cleaned and replaced glass.

In the mean time I aquired a 2nd hand Insize similar dial indicator excellent condition. I played with it, and immediately noticed a difference. If I press the insize to its maximum, it reach a dead stop at a precise mark on the screen every time, while the Mitutoyo reach the end and has a spongy feeling with no precise dead stop feeling.

Is this correct for the Mitutoyo-?

The Mitutoyo and some others do have the rubber type insert in them for the soft stop. Some plunger indicators, have the stop mechanism on the end of the plunger, making them a hard fixed stop for the return of the instrument. My older Mitutoyo only has the rubber insert on the inside and the full extent or Zero is done by the end of the plunger stop that is inside the end cover cap. Somewhere I still have a replacement rubber bellow for the front shaft of the indicator to keep it clean from workshop dust etc.

I find the Insize stuff to be fairly good, but not as good as the Mitutoyo over several years of daily workshop use.

I read some time ago that Mitutoyo are not regarded by some as being particularly good. The best seem to be Swiss made indicators. I’m fortunate enough t to have Tesatast and Compac indicators. If you want to read up on the subject a bit more then this may be of interest.

Edit: it seems that Mitutoyo may have upped their game since I first read about them on the Long Island Indicator website about ten years ago. They now get a much better review:

Insize:
I bought a new Inzize Coaxial Centering Tool and received it today. It passed the 1st test where you hold it in your hand and turn it, the needle must have zero movement and it passed that 100%. I was impressed with the tool so far by the looks and feel of it. The price can be considered reasonable. The packaged green holder was one of the best I had seen so far. Light greenish screen. In perspective it was a bit cheaper than a 2nd hand Accusize one advertised on Facebook as new. I have a PDF about Insize and they seem to have every Measuring tool on the planet or most of it, so not sure if they might have upped their game lately, 1st time experience with them.

The Mitotoyo indicator was an older one I got 2nd hand few years back.
