      Hello Ian,

Thank you for reporting the result, too often it happens that the end of the story remains shrouded in mystery.

I hope the new arrangement works as you wish it to

      Regards

      Brian

        Hello everyone,

I appreciate that I have come a bit late, but there is an Albion Society in Biggar, south of Edinburgh. They normally run a vintage rally every year. If asked, I could find out a bit more on them. A few years ago I was interested in Albion back axles used very successfully as fishing boat winches era 1950's.

        Best wishes to all.

I am not 100% sure, but the gearboxes are generally made by Albion Engineering co Ltd of Birmingham, whereas I think you are referring to a company also called Albion, who mainly made lorries. I think these are 2 separate companies, which apart from their names, don’t have any links?? Could be wrong as I said at the start, but I really think they aren’t related??

Could you show some picture of the arrangement please Ian Whittaker, just to make the arrangement clear and useful to pass on to others if needed?

Metal locking nut wasn’t required for next stage hence why I drilled it!! The only thing is gear is locked on the thread by a metal insert, once removed, it can be removed from the thread by locking the inside cog (to stop it moving) then tapping the outer clog anti clockwise very carefully!!

Good result, a strange early system, not what most of us expected.
