      @andyfreeman1

      Over the last couple of months I have started this clock, my first clock build (with great help from Chris Raynerds video series of his turret clock build).

      I am now ready to cut the escape wheel, using the slitting saw method as shown in John Wilding book. However I am unsure as to what depth I should be cutting the teeth. I know the angle of the cuts and the undercut, but no depth.

      I am either just misreading the drawing  / explanation or something else obvious.

      I have bought several books on clock wheels / pinion cutting, watched lots of videos but still none the wiser.

      Thanks

        Hi Andy, I did mine by the  same method some 7 years ago now but looking back it seems that on page 2 of the words and music that all gears are 1 mod including the escape wheel which I presume would give you the depth required. I will measure mine as carefully as I can and see what I come up with.

          disregard my previous, the wheel when measured is 2.0625 at the root of the teeth making the depth of cut on my wheel as 0.218″. Hope this helps, Chris may be able to measure his.
