          Hi Ron,

What sort of period are you looking at – there is a huge difference between a 1940 field gun1940 and a 1490 cannon…

There have been a couple of more modern field guns serialised in ME.

Hi Ron there was a series in model engineer on 15 pounder field gun WW1 , I don't have the mags anymore but kept copies of the series, something it intend to build SOMEDAY. Started 19 November 1999, My son would have been 8 at the time and I made a statement would have it completed by his 21st, well do the maths, yes I missed that date, not even started. It does get raised as a standing joke in the family.

Not sure if the digital issues go back the far, or if it is something you are looking for

                      Jim

Digital MEs only go back to 2002, I'm afraid.

Yeah in reality it's a vast subject which reached a zenith in the 14 – 18 war and one that I used to be interested in myself.

Books however are a dying breed and so I suggest you trawl all the second hand book shops you can for books on the subject. Sadly many tons of books will never be seen again due to recycling as they call it.

Also try googling artillery rather than anything specific like howitzer or French 75 for instance.

Visit the Imperial War Museum or the Royal Armoury in Leeds, take as many photos as you can and ask if you can take measurements. The War Museum might even have works drawings.
