The only time I would suggest making an effort to detach oneself is if you are using a common name which you are thereby depriving someone else of using. It really annoys me to find a forum where someone has used 'my' name and only made one or two posts five years ago. |

I know there has been quite a lot of discussion about articles and their content but I dont recall anything negative being said about anything you have written. Maybe if you have a reason to jump ship its not connected with the forum and maybe its something you want to keep private anyway. Please put us out of our misery! Ian P |

![]() 963 forum posts 2 photos | G'day Harold. Whatever your reasons for wishing to know how to unsubscribe I would just like to thank you for your most informative books and articles in MEW. They have been quite inspirational. You seem to have the knack of writing at a level that a beginner can follow, yet from which an expert can still learn a few new tricks. Well done Harold. ![]() 6324 forum posts 222 photos | If someone has decided to dissociate themselves they might not ever check their mails and probably forget their password after a while. Then the poster is left wondering if they will get a response. There are sometimes 'where is Fred' posts on forums when a regular goes offline even for a few days. Perhaps a simple section that does not allow replies but allows people to announce departure could be provided as a place to check if you are looking for someone. Post heading to be contain name for easy reference. Perhaps there is a problem with remaining registered if you still get the "here is a new issue of the mag" mails though they are hardly much trouble to delete. At least this lot doesn't spam you with Happy Birthday mails. A different magazine funded forum keeps sending me mails along the lines of "This is in latest issue forward this to all your engineering friends" Seriously? send all my friends a possible trojan/virus because it might actually be a spoof mail? What marketing dim wit thought that one up. |

Bazyle, Yes, wot a "fikko." Nobody would think twice about opening an email from a friend. John John I know this editors spell checker is useless but is 'fikko' what you meant to put? I Googled it because maybe its something I ought to know but got no result that seemed to fit. What did you meant to say? Ian P |

Ian, try Googling "thicko" I dont need to google 'thicko' I've seen and heard that before, but what John put just seemed too obscure, or too obvious, so I though it must mean something else. Ian P
