And if you put a pair of Stillsons on to the barrel so you can get a bit more grip, you can accurately measure at what size Brazil nuts crack. Obviously you have to use a metric one for metric nuts.

Should never make measurements when heated?🙂

Are G-clamps that expensive, where you live?🙂

I thought that is what digital verniers* were for.

I’m sure Joe is ‘havin’ a larf!’.

But what would you use a sub-standard chinese micrometer for? A good second life for it rather than just binning it or selling it on an auction site?

It’s not a heavy load duty for that particular job. Perhaps whoever had been to the local car boot sale for a G-clamp and this was the closest he could get? Probably cheaper than a new clamp.

I can think of a better use for a 'C' spanner.

I find the numbers on my g cramps are handy as a crude torque setting.

Hello Paul!

Actually, only one, and it was not running - doing its best to hide from us. Wildlife very scarce at the moment, after 5 years of drought. In 10 days we saw only the one herd of Springbuck, over 1000km of travel in the North West regions, two Gemsbok ( of the Oryx family), where 5-6 years ago a trip like this would yield 2000-3000 Springbuck, a few hundred Gemsbuck. etc...and the Lions are suffering - many have died from starvation.. terrible situation the Wildlife are in here..
