311 forum posts 172 photos | I'm trying to find a place to purchase a collet holder (chuck) for a Unimat 3. I have found a few sources for complete sets of collets with a holder. I have not been able to find a source that sells the collet holder only. I appreciate any help, Byron |

Byron, chuck for what type and size of collet ? Emgee I can get collets in size ER-16, ER-20, or ER-25. The largest collet I would probably need is 5/8" (16mm). |

311 forum posts 172 photos | I just checked my source for collets and found out I would need the ER-25 collets to get up to the maximum size I would like to use. This would be my preferred size. |

1929 forum posts 243 photos | Emco did/do an ER25 chuck that screws direct to the spindle on the Emco 5 milling drilling accessory fitted to some 5 cnc lathes and 5 manual lathes. You don't say if the thread you need is M14x1 or M14x1.5 ? Emgee

The Unimat 3 uses M14x1 thread. |

1929 forum posts 243 photos | Turbine Guy Original EMCO, item no. 200 050, Fixing M14x1 as in picture, collet recessed into the body so takes up less height from your set-up if milling/drilling, also less overhang from the spindle. From my own experience using the 5 milling attachment I wouldn't advise using a 16mm milling cutter because the unit is quite low power motor, best results will be obtained using smaller diameters but then the spindle speeds may be a bit low, so feedrate will have to be reduced to prevent stalling. Used with correct size of cutter and consideration to the points raised excellent work can be accomplished. Emgee |

311 forum posts 172 photos | Hi Emgee, The collet chuck you showed the picture of (EMCO 200 050) would be perfect for my needs. If anyone knows where I could obtain one of these (new or used) I would appreciate it. As br mentioned in a preceding post, the ER-25 collet chuck is available as a complete set with collets on ebay. I would prefer to get just the chuck if possible. Thanks for the help, Byron Edited By Turbine Guy on 21/01/2021 19:24:57 |

311 forum posts 172 photos | After looking at the cost of buying the collets individually, I realize what a bargain the ER-25 collet chuck with the set of collets sold on ebay is. I went ahead and ordered the set mentioned by br. Thank you all for your help, Byron |

Emco C5 spare parts etc. can also be bought at Emco Holz & Hobby in Austria. Thanks for the source. They appear to sell the collet holder I thought would be ideal for me as shown in Holz & Hobby This source could be useful for other EMCO parts. |

311 forum posts 172 photos | I received the collet set that I ordered on Ebay. The runout was very bad so I looked for help to see if anyone else had this problem and what they did to fix it. I found the following thread Collet Runout that gave suggestions for correcting problems with collet holders. After trying some of the suggestions, I came to the conclusion that fixing the collet chuck is beyond my skill and equipment capabilities. After seeing the size of the ER-25 collet set, I agree with Emgee that an ER-16 collet set would be more appropriate for the Unimat 3. br, I sent you a PM that I am interested in purchasing the E16 collet set if it is still available. Thanks for your help, Byron Edited By Turbine Guy on 17/02/2021 13:12:41 |

3661 forum posts 206 photos | Did you buy the collet set from a seller apparently in Wales (Mountain Ash)? I bought an ER16 one from him, runout was awful and the small nut would not take smaller collets. I returned it as not fit for purpose and got a refund. |
