"admin persons" don't get involved in drafting contracts and other legal documents, or things like standards where words have to be precise - professional engineers (in 50 years of experience) often do.

I think wooden workpieces 60cm in length and 25cm in diameter are fairly safe from harm, the inertia alone should let the smoke out eventually. Oddly when I did a 9" bowl on my 1/4 hp lathe it didn't stall, I must have been doing something wrong.
