Thanks very much gents. I have sent him all the links. I have a feeling that he might be attracted to the machines oriented towards wood as he has a wood lathe and enjoys the medium.

Mick

Oh dear! smile p

Sorry David, have I missed something?

Mick

Sorry! Only a tongue in cheek dig at him heading to the dark (brown) side.

Having been doing even more pattern making over the last couple of weeks there is nothing wrong with working the brown stuff particularly if a pile of castings will be the end result.smiley. The CNC makes a very good job of them, can't show the results yet as its hush-hush at the moment.

Hi Mick,

I have just seen an add On Amazon (Australia) for CNC routers and engravers which might be suitable for your grandson.

Paul.

I am making an MPCNC Primo at the moment: https://www.v1engineering.com

If you have a 3D printer they should come in at only a few hundred pounds.

I am not expecting to be able to machine metal with it, but I do think it will be a good introduction for me to learn a bit about CNC and a bit of fun.
