Major events are being cancelled. Nothing on the Doncaster Mex. website to suggest that it is being cancelled. 'No Refunds' is clearly stated. I think its time for a statement to be made. The Govt. have told me to stay in my home and not travel. It is clear that it is going to cost me an 'arm & a leg' so I have already decided that I will not be going to any future exhibitions.

No official news so far.
I think many events are either hoping they may be able to go ahead or can only afford to cancel if their is an official Government ban on large gatherings or the venue closes.

This weekend's (21-22 March) "London Festival of Railway Modelling" at the Alexandra Palace has been cancelled **LINK** as has the National Garden Railway Show (04-April) at Peterborough although the association hope to reschedule for later in the year. **LINK**
Not directly model engineering related, but some users of this site may have planned to go.

Not a surprise, but just received this from Meridienne Exhibitions via Facebook:
We regret to announce that given the current situation with Coronavirus we have taken the decision to cancel the 2020 Midlands Model Engineering Exhibition due to be held at the Warwickshire Event Centre.
Like many other organisers we have been watching the criteria for events unfold. Venues are only currently planned to reopen from 1st October subject to successful outcomes of the mass gathering pilot studies. There are also ongoing government restrictions in place for the continuing management of this pandemic which are subject to change at any time.
We are positive that considerable social distancing measures will need to be in place regardless. We feel these would have a significant impact on our ability to present the event to the normal size and format for everyone’s enjoyment. Therefore, we have come to the sensible and responsible decision to cancel the event until October 2021.
We are aware that our loyal supporters will be disappointed with this decision but it would not be right to organise an event that does not meet the high expectations that have been set over the last 42 years.
The 2021 show dates are confirmed as the 14th – 17th October again at the Warwickshire Event Centre.
Any visitors who have purchased an advance ticket already will be refunded directly.
We look forward to seeing you again soon.
The Meridienne Team

Well, I wouldn't feel happy about attending any gathering where social distancing is going to be difficult, if not impossible. I've written off this year and am staying at home as much as I can. No point exposing oneself to unnecessary risks is my view. Your opinion may vary, of course and that's your prerogative.

The St Albans & District MES has cancelled our end of September exhibition but hope we are able to welcome you all at the show at the normal time, last weekend of September 2021.
In Devon, Exeter & Distric MES understands that the Bicton show will be going ahead, at least we were invited to take our track, but have regretfully declined to attend as passenger carrying is a problem and a static exhibit still presents probems of exposure for our members.
