Hello i'm Dave from Aberdeenshire a retired engineering company owner.

Still have the company but is run by family now.

Have been making clocks in my home workshop for a few years now after I bought a Skeleton clock for my late wifes Xmas and thought I could make one of those but still need help.

I make a lot of my tools and have a gardening interest too ( 1 acre )

Hello Dave,

I know the feeling! I retired recently and although I have a background in engineering and an interest in clocks, I have never made one before. I recently completed my first one and feel quite pleased with it. If I can offer any help, please ask.

Welcome Dave, I can't claim to be a clockmaker but I have built one, an English Long Case Regulator. Very satisfying when it works.

Any questions, just post them on here.

Welcome Dave,

There are a few clockmakers on this forum but I think we are outnumbered by the steam & IC engine makers. I've built good few clocks over the years and would recommend any of John Wilding's books as a very good starting point. There is a Wilding book on a skeleton clock. Never made one myself but have seen many at ME shows. Also look at the British Horological Institute which has a very good journal and website including a forum.

What are you building at the moment? I am working on an English bracket clock with a double fusee....
