27 forum posts 11 photos | Any recommendations for buying small quantities of bar/plate/tube etc for my first build. (Don't have much of a stockpile yet) Usually I just get bits and bobs from ebay or metals4u or the metal store. Back in the day I used to get stuff from Whistons, but they seem to have vanished many moons ago. Aluminium warehouse seems to have a reasonable selection. Anywhere else I should look? I'm in Dorset UK.

6 forum posts | Richard I've had a couple of orders from Macc Models. No problems. Like you I am building up a stockpile. Every time I order something, I chuck in a couple of extras of different sizes. Bound to come in useful some day...

910 forum posts 39 photos | I pick up metal from Rapid Metals, at Bedworth near Coventry. They have racks of short lengths for small users. Alternative is Metalmania in Hinckley, good selection of common materials, again I collect so not worried about weight. |

I have emailed but had no satisfaction , a bit disappointing Phil Not sure if they still do it, but B & Q did sell bolts with metric and imperial sizing. The daft thing was that whilst most were metric some were imperial threads. |

2613 forum posts 212 photos | If you are anywhere near to Falmouth, there is an excellent Brass,Bronze and stainless steel supplier on the Bickland Water industrial estate. Sheet, bar, tube etc (Certificate if you want) and cut to size. They will post, but I don't know wether the post would be more appropriate for larger orders than small bits. They cater for industry but happy to supply to guys like us. If not busy, they cut whilst you wait. |
