The fundamental answer is that the online archive was and is intended for primarily for viewing; it wasn't set up to be a print on demand feature although that's how a number of readers use it.

Printing isn't a feature we have ever advertised or used to promote the archive.

Rolling back to flash isn't an option and in the future members will have to use legacy software to view the old flash issues.

I'm sorry it isn't what people want to hear, but that's the situation and I am not in a position to change it myself.

That's said I am exploring possible alternatives with h MTM but these will not happen overnight.

As Pocketmags are the worlds largest Digital magazine provider I'm sure they would not have got that large with a viewer that is junk.

We may be able to help if you could be more specific about that the problems are and also what operating system, browser etc you are using including what versions and also if you have any add blocking operating which may affect things.

My wife went to evening classes to learn about web coding and stuff . The first thing they learned was

Any program / web page should work on any browser and or operating system . Within certain limits offcourse , but it's definitly not the user that should adapt to the program used , On the contrary .

If PM was not a heap of crap , as more then one user stated , it would not cause all these problems .

Neil , might be wort doing a little poll among the readers .

We want the printing function back as it was

We will use the new viewer as it is , forget about the printing .

I think the results will speak for themselves

I think the PlayStation is so popular because people who just want to play games just load and go, the PC gamer needs to be a serious geek to get a game to work properly on his particular hardware. Any software needs to work on an impossible to test range of hardware for the PC, Apple take close control of applications and have a very limited range of hardware and operating systems. It does sound as if those having problems with Pocketmags may not be geeky enough to find why their setup is not working, apart from just saying it doesn’t work if they want help they need to give much more information on their hardware, operating system and any other settings and add on programs they may be running. Pocketmags clearly does work for many thousands of people so it is more than likely a problem with the users setup that is causing a problem. My wife may one day accept that she needs to understand how a computer works rather than it work as she thinks it should.

If you are hving a problem with Pocket Mags viewer, log a case with them. I use the Pocket Mags viewer on an Android, works fine, but have never bother to print from it .

If I want to print I always use Chrome on a linux PC. There was an issue recently when Pocket Mags updated their HTML5 viewer, it would not print. I submitted case withthem and it was fixed in a couple of days.

When you submit a case with Pocket Mags list the OS and Browser, with version if you know it. They will investigate the issue.

As regarding the new archive viewer, yes a poll on the printing option is an excellent idea.

Once the html5 Archive Viewer is fixed, long term cosideration should be given to converting the flash to HTML5. I would be surprised if there i not a program that will do the conversion.

Gerd,

I don't want to raise unrealistic expectations that I can secure changes. That said, I have drawn attention to this thread and raised all these issues and they are being looked at.

I am a digital subscriber to ME. Up until and including Volume 4604 ME, I have been able easily to view and print. From volume 4605 I have been unable to do this. There appears to be a change in the viewing and print systems from this point.

I am building the ME vertical boiler and can no longer print from part 23 onwards.

Can anyone help?

Read back through the thread and you will see many mentions of using Pocketmags to view and print the mag.

Print a complete issue in Pocketmags.

I use PDF Architect (free version). It prints to memory and then asks for a file name for saving but allows you to continue printing and merge all of the prints into one file name.

With Pocketmags, I can continue printing the magazines, 2 pages at a time and then merge them all into a complete volume when I save to file. Not as simple as printing all pages at a time.

Paul.

As a digital subscriber to MEW I also have been printing articles so that I can take them into the workshop to make some of the projects. As this is no longer possible I for one WILL NOT BE RENEWING MY SUBSCRIPTION. This new viewer is completely unfit for use....

Once again if you have a current digital sub you can still print from all the issues you have paid for using Pocketmags. Pocketmags is the better viewer to use rather than view via this site.

You can still also print off from the digital archive any issue upto the beginning of this year.

Hi,

and as I have stated before ..... I cannot print from PocketMags (The online version) ... If I try I get a page as shown below. (The printer/settings work OK for all other Web sites and applications)

I only seem to get the top corner of the page. MTM and PocketMags do not seem to want to help .... I get the same in IE (11) or Firefox (Latest) under Windows 7. When using PocketMags, I am using the online viewer as I cannot download the magazines as Win 7 is not supported.

My Digital MEW subscription is due for renewal in 9 days .... I will not be renewing. The product is no longer fit for purpose. (My ME is due in July, again I will not be renewing)

a/ The new Viewer is not fit for purpose ... No PRINT, and you have to keep zooming in/out and scrolling around to read it.

b/ I cannot download PocketMag issues (As advertised) as I am using Windows 7

I will now read issues at local ME club or library and get the articles scanned that I want.

Dave

Steambuff when you click print you should get this window come up, click more settings as highlighted.

pm print settings.jpg

Check what you have scale set to, default is full page (100%) but if increased as I have done here you will only get part of the page as per your image

pm print large.jpg

When returned to default it looks and prints like this

pm full page.jpg

Please tell me where the print button is located.

My screen opens with the mag plus pages underneath. I cannot see any option to print. I am on the latest Mac operating system OS 10:14:4

With the old system I just clicked on the page and a button appeared giving the option to print that page. When I click on the page with the new Viewer all I get is an increase in scale of the page.

Once again use Pocketmags

You will first need to register then go to "my account" and the third option down the left is "activate subscription" click this then enter the mag ME or MEW and your subscription number.

You can then view your subscription issues there, there is a printer icon on the left of the viewer.

That's about the limit of how far I can help you. If you have another device such as a phone may be worth trying printing from that just to eliminate the device you are currently using to narrow down where the problem may be..
