Hi All,

My WM250 seems to have a very loose saddle. I can see no obvious gib adjustments. Is there some other adjustment for the saddle that I have missed? Any help would be much appreciated.

Cheers the noo

John.

I have a 250V-F too... this happened to me, have a look at the back of the saddle, under the shear, you should find a metal 'gib strip' held on by bolts these may well be loose, give them a snug up , it should fix the problem.

If there are no obvious gib strip adjusters along the side, there may be a large screwdriver slotted item on the end, under the handwheel. This will drive a wedge onto the gib to take out slack. They do work loose and increase slack and so need resetting from time to time..

Just had a look at my manual, the item I mentioned is part # 63 on the carriage assembly page.

Hi George and Howard,

Thanks for the reply. I'll have a look this afternoon. The saddle is pretty loose and parting off is near impossible.

Cheers the noo

Just on the off chance check the 4 SHSC that fasten the cross slide to the saddle gear box, they may have also worked loose enough to give it slight lift...?

Hi All,

Thanks for the replies. George, you were right. The 4 allen bolts at the back of the saddle were loose. Gave them a snug up and the saddle feels a lot better. I can now part with confidence!

Cheers the noo
