This isn't yet a "work in progress" but it might become one. I was having a clear up of the workshop this morning and found this hiding behind stuff. I acquired it as part of a bequest and it was found in the attic of my late friends house. I know nothing of its origins, however it looks distinctly home made and dates I suppose from about 100 years ago. I think it may well have had a flywheel originally and it certainly looks like it could work. I wonder if it derived from plans in ME. Any thoughts?

Regards

Martin

That is in interesting item. The slots would indicate a flywheel but why two slots ? Not sure two flywheels would look right. Reversing lever and possibly a stand for a governor?

Can you upload some more pics to your album please, and ideally with a sheet of paper behind the engine as in pic 2 as it would make it easier to see without the background items

Nothing come s to mind at the moment but a bit of digging around will be interesting

Thanks

Bill

I have added some more pics to my album which hopefully show some better detail.

Could one slot be for the flywheel and the other for a pully wheel?

Thanks Martin

Tremendous help especially with the full size facility.

I feel Brian is on the right lines with his flywheel and pulley suggestion.

I can now see the stand is part of the reversing arrangement.

Certainly an interesting engine and well worth bringing back to llife.
