Alibre Atom3D

Thanks to the generosity of Alibre, Model Engineers' Workshop Magazine is able to offer every reader of Model Engineers' Workshop a free six-month licence to Alibre Atom3D. Alongside this great opportunity, starting with issue 274 of Model Engineers' Workshop we are running a detailed tutorial series in the magazine. This page will be the 'hub' for links to example files, tutorials and more so make sure you drop in regularly to keep up to date!

Neil, regarding 1st or 3rd angle, click top left for file properties, select view where you can change between 1st & 3rd then tick the box to make defalt

Yep, I had that already when I said "Defaults to 1st angle which is fine" I meant that's what I want it to do!

Fair enough I will have to add my own cone.

(Cut and paste commands would be nice to have, I note that -C and -V work as expected but I'm lazy and want to use the mouse only so I can stir my tea with my left hand

Knocked this up yesterday evening, as something I can print out for as an accessory for various models. Not super detailed but dimensionally accurate (taken from one of Savage's original drawings - the US maker).

Believe it or not there doesn't seem to be a decent representation on Thingiverse.

Cut/Copy/Paste via mouse alone are restricted, not because of any particular desire to prevent Atom3D users having access, but simply because opening up that 'chunk' of user interface would also give access to a whole load of other things. It would require a total re-structuring of the user interface to be able to give some of the 'expected' tools in Atom3D. That won't happen short term just for Atom3D, but may happen in the longer term as part of a wider overhaul of the technology and structure of the user interface.
