Thread: Full workshop for sale on ebay

Hello all, Ive told my wife a number of times that whatever she does, dont let the scrap man have anything. Just pick up the phone and contact one of the preserved railways, West Somerset, Vale of Berkeley, Bodmin etc. Im pretty sure they would jump at the chance of some useful equipment. Apart from the odd battery drill, Im pretty sure she or the kids wont want anything. Thats my wish anyway.

Thread: Best way to cut stock to size
21/12/2016 10:06:51

Bill, ive the one with the 350 mm disc and have cut many 2 inch mild steel bars on it. Take it easy, and they will cut just about anything. Very noisy though. With some juggling, I cut through a 6 inch square RSJ the other day.

Thread: Heritage steam under coal threat
11/12/2016 22:58:52

Yes, I watched the programme about the last British coal mine, the Big K, a bloody disgrace. I havent been so angry in years. How on earth can it be cheaper to import coal from Russia !. From what Ive read, theres a lot more than 150 years worth of it left. We are run by morons, including the green brigade......theyre green alright !!!.

Silly Old Duffer, thanks for that about the potentiometer, I tried many turns both ways but still nothing. I might try uploading again to see what happens.

09/12/2016 17:42:35

My first time with the Arduino Uno too, and after getting something like " done uploading ",, I get bugger all on the LCD apart from the light !!. Oops. Any thoughts anyone please, bearing in mind I dont really know what Im doing.

Thread: Salvage Hauls

Michael, the skip was outside of an engineering business/ hydraulics repair shop (Derek Lane & Co near Exeter, now moved ). It makes me wonder what else they chucked away. Scrapyards wont let people wander around them down here .... health and safety.

24/10/2016 15:32:48

Hello all, found this lathe tool sitting on top of a huge pile of scrap in a skip, with no insert in it . A box of DNMG inserts for £8 off ebay , £3 for a screw and shim, milled a few thou off the top, bingo, a cracking addition for the workshop !!.

Didnt come with the holder of course.12092016192.jpg

Hello all, up in Lincolnshire last week, so we called into East Kirkby for another visit........fantastic to see the Lancaster again. Went on it for a taxi ride a few years ago, a humbling experience.
