Thread: EXE 2 1/2 inch lathe.
Friend of mine has inherited this little Exe lathe from his late brother and wantsit to go to a good home, and would therefore like a rough idea as to a fair price . It looks in good condition, so has anyone a rough idea please. No stand or motor unfortunately.
Thread: Warco DH1 Milling vice.
Hello Roger and Michael, thanks for the response. Will probably get one now .
Hello all, has anyone bought one of these milling vices ?. Are they as good as the advert says ?. Seem to remember someone having trouble with one a fair while ago. Thanks.

You can run a 400v 3 phase motor off a VFD's 240 3 phase output, but set to 29hz. You lose a third of the RPM. The clever electrical people on here will explain better than I, but the idea, which came from this forum, worked for me.

Bogstandard2 and Jasonb, cracking work there!.
Nick g, nice job on the backplate !. Ill bookmark the page for future reference. Not wishing to be pedantic though , but some stainless steels are magnetic.

Hello all, went to see a machinist friend recently, and this is one of his Holbrooks. The chuck was actually rubbing on the compacted chips.I know its a tool to make money, but now and again a bit of a clean up wouldnt go amiss !.
Thread: Taylor Hobson cutter grinder.
Hello all, many thanks for the replies.
Michael, thanks for the link, at least I know what its for now . Just out of interest, inside the access plate, theres a name tab, Central Electricity Generating Board.
Hello, Ive been online, but nothing about this particular unit. Yes, perhaps it is something to do with pantographs. The chap I bought it from , said his son took 2 TH pantographs down the scrapyard.
Hello all, just purchased this Taylor Hobson grinder unit from a friend who didnt really know what it was and neither do I !. Its a (heavy) nicely made bit of kit and presume its for grinding some sort of cutters, so the question is, what would have been its purpose ?. Many thanks.

Thread: A new class for MEX
Heres a suggestion, just think of the hundreds of 4 way tool posts that arent used anymore !. So, a section for who can come up with the best adaptation of one for something else, apart from a door stop. Better than throwing them in the scrap.Ive one that has a seperate indexing handle on it that could be perhaps modified for use on a milling machine table !!.
