Thread: Miniature Hand Rivet Squeezer suppliers

Following the Paul jervis link to a Swiss company. Having triggered BREXIT can we now order VATfree from that source as a non EEC country??????

Even if it was shipped Tax free .... The UK customs would intercept it and charge you 20% VAT + a handling fee + maybe Import duty. It would be treated as if you ordered from the US or anyother non EU country. So you could end up paying more!

Thread: What web browser
25/01/2017 00:43:49

That depends who your ISP is and what package you are on .... I have a fixed IP Address when connecting from home, so logging out and in again will make no difference as I will always have the same address.

Thread: Electric Drill-drivers with dead batteries
16/01/2017 11:16:09
Posted by Michael Gilligan on 16/01/2017 10:32:12:

In theory, 200W should be more than adequate for what was a battery powered hand drill.

[at least, all the ones I've seen]

But you may find that the peak 'inrush current' is upsetting the PSU ... hence the recommendation to use a car battery.

MichaelG.

I have looked at one of my 200W PC Power supplies .... from the label -

5v @ 18Amps, 12v @ 6A, 3.3v @ 10A

Is 6Amps at 12v (72 Watts) enough to start and run a drill??

Both ME and MEW are now downloading OK.

Thanks for chasing Neil.

(No response to my email to PocketMags though)

Hello John,

Glad you got sorted, I haven't heard back from the technical people yet, but I'm assuming that this problem was affecting you and Graeme as no-one else seems to have reported the problem.

@Graeme - are you now able to see issue 250? If not have you contacted Pocketmags support?

Neil

Hi,

I also have a Pocketmags problem .... The latest issues of Model Engineer (4551) & Model Engineer Workshop (Jan-17) are not available to download as part of my subscriptions .... I have tried through the offline reader, IPAD app and via the website to download/read them but the only option given is to buy them!

+1 on Spareys "The Amateurs Lathe", less than a fiver too

Hi Ady

Under a fiver, did you buy that recently?. The cheapest I could find was click and collect at W H Smiths £6.26.

Steve

Currently there are a couple on Ebay (Buy it Now) for £2.79 inc UK Postage

Thread: Downloading Digital Issue
29/10/2016 08:24:39

If you have downloaded the files, using the offline reader I do not need to be connected to the internet to read the magazines. (I use Windows 7 and a iPad)

Also I do not need to sign into Microsoft either. (This may be needed if you are using the app (Win 10) and not the program.)

Thread: Do you go to the scrap metal merchant
20/09/2016 10:45:33

I buy new from known and trusted sources ... you never know what you are getting from the scrappy.

I would never ... ever ... buy material for a boiler from a scrappy, no matter how much cheaper it is!

Thread: magazine
11/09/2016 22:47:33

I had to re-activate my subscriptions to see the latest issues....this is the second time I have had to do this in the past two week.

Uninstalling the app on my PC is not an acceptable option, as I would have to re-download over 200 magazine issues.

Can try to remove and reinstall on my iPad when I get home next weekend.

Hi

I can access ME4542, but I had to re-activate my subscription at PocketMags.

I cannot see MEW 246 on PocketMags (I have reactivated my subs)

Dave

06/09/2016 08:19:33

Both my ME and MEW subs are showing as in-active in Pocketmags.

How do I reactivate them and ensure I do not miss any issues, I do not have a Order Number as one is not sent out when you renew.

Dave

05/09/2016 22:41:25

I am also a paper+digital ME subscriber. I renewed in August, the direct debit was taken from my account.

I am now also being told by PocketMags that I must pay for the latest edition of ME (4542)

Can someone please sort it out for me

Thanks

Dave

Dave, the question as I see it is whether the PM reader will accept that code in addition to the one it already has for the earlier subscription or whether it will replace it. In which case I may not see the earlier mags ..... or I may see them anyway, if PM displays whatever it already has my machine no matter what code it's currently working under.

I have had multiple subscriptions of the same mag, and have had no problems accessing the current and the old issues.

Dave

You should be able to sign in, then register a new subscription and enter the code in the email. That worked for me.
