It's obviously a whatsit.

Thread: Gosh trying to line a Loco is so hard any tips
19/10/2016 22:55:29

There is that book of course "How NOT to paint a loco". Whether this would help in your present circumstances I know not. Only offering a suggestion.

Thread: What Did You Do Today (2016)
19/10/2016 21:01:18
Posted by Neil Wyatt on 18/10/2016 21:19:59:

Many years ago there was trend for people who did crafts with kids using toilet roll tubes to 'sterilise' them first by microwaving them

And there's me thinking you meant the kids !

Thread: tools with memories
26/08/2016 18:09:13

An "Elephant" brand tenon saw my late wife bought me for our first wedding anniversary 40 years ago, Sad memories indeed,

Thread: Prompt Order Processing
29/06/2016 21:50:24

I can beat that - ordered some drills a while back at 2.30 - arrived next morning at 10,30 !

Saw Ketan hurtling down the road on his bike,

Promptness is their middle name.

Thread: Cool summer project for my little daughter
23/06/2016 14:23:45

Of course "Fizzy" will want all the plans for his little daughter. And why not might one ask ?

(and bad dogs can be destroyed !!)

Thread: Flying Scotsman's schedule to be kept secret
10/05/2016 14:39:26

Mr Stephenson,

What happens if the "Rocket" hits a cow ?

"Too bad for the coo"

Our Mr Stevenson is quite correct.

26/04/2016 21:00:47

PROPER workshop tea strength has the spoon (or equivalent) standing vertically with absolutely no visible means of support

Thread: Early Cowells lathe spindle thread size
20/04/2016 14:50:46

Look in advert on this page. Type "Cowells" in the left hand search box where their advert opens- should solve your backplate problem at least.

Thread: Chenery Vee-Twin
08/04/2016 12:06:19

Hemingway's site refers to 11 A3 Pages of diagrams and 23 Pages of build notes for this model. Along with Keith's 2000 hours of work you can appreciate the huge effort that's gone into this engine. Would be far beyond me I'm afraid. Very well done indeed, sir

Thread: Cutting 6inch holes in 1.2 mm SS sheet
16/03/2016 20:37:17

Tank cutter any use ?

(didn't see mention of trepanning tool - must get an appointment at Specsavers !)

Thread: Anybody recognise this old lathe?
14/03/2016 12:07:45

Could it be for making the tools for which this firm was apparently noted ?

Thread: Wood Treatment
17/02/2016 12:35:14

Creosote is also excellent for persuading squirrels not to visit your loft. They hop it like a commuter running for the last train.

Thread: Advancd Grinding Rest
30/10/2014 13:40:14

Surely will be remembered as the excellent Harold Hall, metalworker extraordinaire !

Thread: Engineer's Guardian Angel!
25/10/2014 21:27:28

Yes, it does look rather good, doesn't it !

Thread: A plea for prices!
21/10/2014 19:15:37

If reviewing a new product, just quote the current RRP, else don't bother. As we all know, RRP is merely indicative, so users can look for the current prices. One assumes that they have sufficient Internet savvy to look for the current price.

Thread: (UK) Which Prescription Safety Glasses
03/10/2014 16:05:15

Why safety glasses ? Why not ordinary glasses + safety goggles ?
