Thread: unc to metric or imperial

Hello JasonB I agree with your sentiments about fixings. I have used the mdmetric.com
chart to find the nearest BA size, so all I need now is to make or buy some studding and nuts in 3-4-6-7-8-9-11 BA. Thanks for your help.

Hello. Does any one know of a chart that lists UNC -UNF screws along side
their metric or imperial matches, or has any one an easy way to transpose the same. I am considering making the Snow Engine, the list of fasteners contain many sizes I have not come across and would be a bit tiresome to make, such as
0-80x3/16,1-72x 3/16, 2-56 x1/8 socket head cap screws. Idealy I need a U.K supplier of these sizes all in all there are over twenty different sizes a total of about one hundred and sixty screws.

Thread: Brass turnings
14/01/2011 18:51:39
Hi I usually collect my brass scrap in a 1Kg margarine carton and take to the scrap yard when passing that way on other other journeys, usually take away a small billet of brass or aluminium in exchange. They will give cash if you prefer.

Hello. H.N.Y. everybody . No sign of 4394 or4395 in deepest Herefordshire, but goods ordered online or phone arrive in under 36 hours as a rule so its not the poor old postie who's at fault I think.

Hi rik
I also had this type of attitude from another well known company, they seemed to think they were doing me a favour by selling me some of their productsso, I purchased elsewhere and ended with a better deal. As to your parts try Toolco they do the same type of lathes just a differant badge.

Hello Axel I think the answer to your question lies in the fact most young people just do not have the time to spend rather than lack of interest, most seem to busy actually making a living to even live. As for my self I took up this hobby for the first time aged SEVENTY

Thread: 4 jaw Self centering chuck
17/08/2010 20:00:53
Hi Many thanks to all those who gave an opinion to my query, I dont think I need to get one just yet.. Thanks Again Brian.
14/08/2010 18:57:34
Hello. Are 4jaw s/c chucks any better with normal circular material than three jaw s/c chucks. I can see the advantage for turning a round on something perfectly square or drilling through the centre of a square, but are there enough advantages to justify the cost. I ask this question because someone said get your self a four jaw s/c, but could not say why when pressed.
