Thread: Is Liquid PTFE Any Good For Airlines?
07/06/2021 18:23:51

I prefer PTFE tape, easily applied in any orientation and if would on the correct way will not leak, I've found that liquid sealants need time to cure where as the tape is instant.

When youve had your two jabs your protected but you can still transmit it to others as a carrier, because of my part time job, even though I've had both my jabs, I'm still required to test myself twice a week for Covid so I dont infect others,

Picking the wiper style motor for me is not because of cost, I wanted a simple system that if it goes wrong I can easily check and repair it, You are all discussing EMF and ways around it, I dont want that hassle.

Hi Martin

Thanks for that - My 4-Jaw is exactly the same as Stu's (San ou K72-160 160mm (6" 4 Jaw chuck), hence the 4 bolts (through the chuck into the plate) and the 3-studs (which should be same as yours),

Would you mind sharing a pic of the back of your 4-jaw chuck? Maybe tell me what that diameter is (for a sanity-check when I measure).

My Machine Mart 4 jaw has no makers mark and is mounted onto a steel back plate the OD of the chuck and back plate are both 149.60mm dia, the back plate is 12mm thick and the recess is 3.55 mm deep and 99.90mm dia and the PCD of the three tapped holes to mount it on the spindle is 131.6mm dia.

The hole in the centre of the back plate is 32mm.

Hope this helps,

I will do that tomorrow if ok, bad weather and household chores means today is already laid out for me smiley

My three and four jaw chucks are both machine mart and they have three bolts to hold them on the spindle plate, I found that the three bolts have the same pitch but not the spacing, one bolt is ever so slightly closer to one of the other bolts and I've centre punch the plate and chucks to make sure they fit correctly.

Thread: Can 2 people use the same mobile with NHS Covid app?
17/05/2021 16:24:43

The only NHS app I've used is the test and trace NHS Covid 19 app and that is since it cam out and all it records is where I go by reading the Q codes that I find so they can track where ive been which is care homes, retirement homes and hospitals and any where others have set them up, I also use the C19 app by ZOE, for my wife and I, which was set up by Kings College London where I send info about how we feel every day, if weve been tested and details about our jabs etc and how we feel.

Thread: Turning Cartwheels
17/05/2021 11:10:33

Those of us who restore stationary engines build our trolleys using cast iron wheels from old barrows etc, a set of four wheels can now cost upwards of £60 to £70, as an alternative some enginemen make them out of large dia pipes to make the rims with a length of machined bar for the centre and smaller pieces of bar or flat stock as spokes.

The chuck spindle is 4mt. I have a 3mt ER32 with M12 thread, and converter sleeve. The Machine Mart chuck/collets are a non standard form, so to be avoided. I bought a metric ER32 set with additional 1/8 and 1/4 collets.

John, according to MM catalogue its 3mt, ignore this bit I'm quoting the milling head taper.
