Thread: Logging in to MyBT |

Grizzly Bear, To get a four digit code you must have requested it via requesting an action from them i.e. changing your password, you put the four digit code into a displayed box on the screen so that BT know you are who you say you are as they sent you the code, this then allows you to change your password etc. I received those two emails and deleted them as I didnt believe them to be from BT as the format of the form was different, ive had no issues because I ignored them. Cost? £69 at Specsavers, in new frames (No more expensive than reglazing an existing frame ). Howard Wish I could buy at Specsavers, if I take my eye tests to them they say we will have to get these specially made as you fall outside of our standard range. Martin P |

Gary, I've worn varifocals for many years and I can only assume I'm an odd ball as I either ignore the problems others have listed or have never noticed them, before varifocals I had bifocals and they drove me around the bend if I didnt move my head and looked down the ground used to rush up and meet me. Just looked at your pictures and realised that there are several on Ebay at the moment, Seth Thomas another clock maker also produced a deck clock which is very similar in design. Martin P |

AJW, I've got myself into clocks and I have a friendly commercial clock repairer who suggested to me to place the whole mechanism into a cleaning tank and with tooth brushes clean away all of the muck etc then lubricate with a light oil but use it sparingly, each spindle tends to sit in its bearing which is in a dimple, the dimple will hold the small amount of oil. If you take the mechanism apart you will not have enough hands and fingers to reassemble it Martin P |
Thread: How to stop scam phone calls for good? |
27/08/2020 13:30:04 |
As I've said before I bought the BT phone system soon after it came out, I dont miss calls as the likes of the Doctors etc have my mobile no, the home phone sits quietly in the corner doing its job of blocking calls, we get the odd one or two a week blocked by the phone which are easily deleted.

The two seater Sea Fury that lives at Duxford crashed today, the two on board the plane were ok. The aircraft looks a mess.

Regardless of what country, religion, political leaning and who to blame this Virus is going to be with us "world wise" well into next year so we just need to abide by the rules and get on with it, bickering about it wont solve anything. Martin P |

Shuttleworth has its first airshow this weekend, the grass field has been marked out into squares to allow for one car and family to watch the display and distance from the next bay, we had a Spitfire over yesterday heading towards the airfield but didnt see anything elso going in, lets hope they have a good weekend. Ian, +1 for call gaurdian also, my wife and I have had it since it appeared, if you load your favourite no's into the memory they will come through direct but if the number is not saved the ringer will have to do as requested, automatic dialled systems cant get through, as others have said since weve had it the phone has gone very quiet except for the calls we want. You can see who has rung, even those who havent got through. Martin P |

I'm amazed an £80k Management candidate was expected to order a Fire Door. That's emphatically not a management skill! Good managers rarely need practical skills, ![]() Dave
I wonder what some of our older forumites might think about your comment about managers not needing practical skills!!!
Edited By Sam Longley 1 on 04/07/2020 18:20:12 +1 for the above, I served my time on a maintenance dept where the management were all ex fitters, electricians etc when you got given a job you knew they knew what they were talking about and they helped you through if you had issues, my last job was made difficult because my educated manager had no idea what the problems were and didnt want to know and only wanted to take the customers side to keep them sweet and I and others were only lambs to the slaughter if we couldnt sort the problems in an impossible time. Just to buck the trend once fitted I dont release the tension on my bandsaw blades and I can go weeks between cutting jobs. I use a local saw doctor to me and they make my blades with no issues. Martin P

Knowing that Martin likes his stationary engines I wondered if he would be interested in this one!
Rik, thank you for that, I've actually seen it before but it still brings a smile, a very good go at a Lister CS single cylinder diesel which the Indians are now making well engineered copies of. Martin P |
