Thread: acid pickle
23/06/2009 20:38:48
Thanks for the replies, if I go to a car battery shop like halfords do I just ask for battery acid?
I've been using pure acid(99.9) for the past few years which I dilute to 20/1, how does that compare to battery acid?
22/06/2009 16:44:31
Can anyone tell me where I can buy sulphuric acid in Scotland, the last bottle I have is nearly gone and my enquiries at the local chemist have proved fruitless Dougie
Thread: club news
19/06/2009 20:00:25
The latest issue has the new club pages layout as described by the editor in smoke rings but  I'm afraid two pages and ten pics of empty tracks dosent make interesting copy ( at least not for me ). I know its to show the facilities available but what about some models to look at? What if you're not into locos? I'm sure the clubs in question have more to offer and it would be interesting to see the various models built by the club members

09/06/2009 20:21:33
WOW, thats a neat engine, is it made from home made castings or is it built up?
Thanks for the info on the chain
09/06/2009 19:10:28
Can anyone tell me if the castings that used to be produced by Alyn Foundry are being made by anyone else?. The information I have is that they are now out of business, is this correct?
Thread: chain suppliers
09/06/2009 19:07:03
Hi this is not strictly a beginners question but I cant find anywhere else to put it, I'm looking for a supplier of chain in plain mild steel or similar but not M.K metals, The size range is about 8 links/inch to 3/inch, can anyone help?

Thread: Ignition coils for small engines
29/05/2009 17:57:10
Relativly cheap coils are available from motorcycle shops, These are available in 6 or 12 volt, you might get on even cheaper from a breakers yard
Thread: workshop data chart
28/05/2009 20:39:11
Thanks Andy that was what I was looking for
Thread: Casting of full size engines
27/05/2009 17:23:25
What size of castings are you talking about, also what material. I have a homemade furnace and can do most metals apart from cast iron. If you were interested in making your own furnace it can be done quite cheaply
Thread: Website Articles - Suggestions Please
26/05/2009 21:47:27
More I/C please, the free plans are great but plans for models that require castings are only useful if you intend to buy the castings.
A reprint of the modelengineers wallchart would be great, my copy has just about had it.
More stationary models, I, like others do not belong to a club so do not have access to a track to run a loco, freelance stuff would be great
Thread: workshop data chart
26/05/2009 21:26:20
My copy of a workshop data chart  given free in model engineer some years ago is about to give up the ghost and is so yellow with age that I cant scan it properly, can anyone tell me where I can get a new copy preferably to download. Alternatively  a list of BA tapping and clearance drill sizes would do.
