Thread: C A D for Mac
The Mac version is quite an old version I think.
Thread: workshop data chart
Buy a Zeus book from Chronos.
Probably about £5 + postage.
We will be putting data charts up soon.
Thread: Website Articles - Suggestions Please
We will be putting the datasheets on the web.
Individual charts rather than large charts that no one can print out.
LBSC is not our copyright so can't do that.
One reader at least is fabricating the Centaur gas engine.
The Trojan, The Corsair and the Cygnet Royal could all be made without castings.
We can put a Martin Evans gauge 1 locomotive onto the site.
We can't reuse the articles on their own.
The author cannot offer reprints of the article as laid out.
Some authors such as Edgar westbury and Martin Evans were employed by Model Engineer and their articles are copyright Myhobbystore Ltd.
That is why the recent free plans in Model engineer were by these two authors.
I have permission from Tom Walshaw's (Tubal Cain) widow to put his articles on the web.

Thread: Hart grinding rest
I was outbid by £1.
I have a Clarkson but it is in a large shed with
all sorts of other stuff stored.
There is nowhere to set it up in the workshops.
I don't like grinding in the workshop anyway.
I need another decent shed but can't get one where I am in Scotland.
Not at a reasonable price anyway.

Does anyone know if the set of castings for the Hart tool grinding rest are still available?
Thread: Granite Surface plates
I bought a granite Trivet from Tesco yesterday.
It is polished on one side.
About 8 inches 200mm square at a guess and all for about £4.
Thread: Material Suppliers
There are plenty of people selling small quantities of metal on Ebay.

Thread: Model Engineer Workshop Manual by Thomas?
Pretty sure Chronos sell it and their delivery is usually fast.
Thread: Mitsubishi Octamill
I am lookingfor some reasonably priced carbide tips for a Mitsubishi Octamill.
I think they are LNXH 106PNER.
I could do with four tips.
Grade suitable for steel or cast iron.
Thread: Casting of full size engines
If you look on Ebay you might find some casting firms who will do castings for a reasonable price.
If you do the engine, please consider writing it up for Model Engineer magazine.
I have added the topic.
One I overlooked when setting them up.
Thread: hot air fan
I can probably supply.
I think I know the article you mean.
It was back in the late 60s I think.
If you have the author name, let me know.
Thread: Posilock threads.
What is the internal diameter of the thread?
Usually drawbars are 3/8 Whit or 10mm.
The Clarke is more likely to be metric so I would try a 10mm bolt in it first.
If that fits, buy a bit of 10mm studding (threaded rod) from B&Q.
Larger Bridgeport type mills are usually 7/16UNF.
Thread: Granite Surface plates
Are you sure they need to be lapped?
They might be flat enough.
Before I bought a proper granite surface plate, I used a granite chopping board from Argos which appeared to be flat enough for model engineering purposes and only cost about £10.
Thread: Tramcars by Ashley Best in Model Engineer magazine
There is a 4-weekly series about tramcars written by Ashley Best that will continue in Model Engineer issue 4354 and will continue for 2 or 3 issues in even numbered issues.
Edited By Kelvin Barber on 31/08/2010 13:19:19
Thread: Martin Ransome Water Taxi Steam Launch Florence power plant
There is a new series on the power plant for the Steam Launch Florence starting in Model Engineer issue 4354 on sale 19 June.
This thread is for questions on the construction etc.

Thread: MEW issue 151
There are no obvous reasons why they are not being supplied.
I will ask why.
If you are in the UK and have not received MEW 151, I would request a replacement.
It should have arrived by now.

Items for sale or wanted must be reasonably related to Model Engineering.
Trade advertisers are not permitted to use the Free Advert services.
They should contact Ben Rayment in the advertising department.
