Thread: Between centres boring bar bit grinding
23/05/2022 17:29:44

I didn't mean to stir a hornet's nest here. I found the diagram for cutting geometry helpful and figured I would say thanks! lol.

Commenting to say thank you, quick web search today provided this link and set me in the right direction for a line boring operation I am about to embark on during the build of my Brooks-Stent cutter grinder.

Thread: Storage wall continues to grow
30/01/2022 11:58:59

I wouldn't know where to start in openscad, looks so complicated lol

29/01/2022 22:58:05

Ha believe it or not this part of the bench stays clean. Clutter starts, as can be seen, just left and right of the pictures area.

A little over four years ago I got my first printer. I started designing and printing the boxes in the summer of 2019. Since then it has become sort of a solution to all storage issues. Need storage, design and print a box. Now it is a wall. https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3873672 and https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4636714

Thread: Advanced Grinding Rest
26/01/2022 15:57:43

I noticed my error, I mistakenly read 6mm as 9mm. Now that it is sorted it all goes together well. I need to lap my dovetails for a bit to get them smoother.

23/01/2022 17:41:08

I think I am a bit confused on assembly of the top half of the grinding rest. How do parts 9 connect together? Leadscrew but 15 doesn't go far enough into the lower 9? Are they screwed together or does the top half simply rest on the lower slide? So close, but I'm stumped.

23/01/2022 12:30:40

Ahh makes sense. And your quote on making tools to make tools and never get on with making the thing you wanted is the story of my maker career so far. Lol

22/01/2022 23:28:50

MK2 version of what? Is there a second version of the advanced Grinding Rest?

22/01/2022 20:55:05

Thank you for commenting. I ordered some stock material closer in size to the knobs, screws to save on lathe time. I am on hold until that arrives.

22/01/2022 20:14:30

Yeah that is a great reference lol

22/01/2022 16:01:09

I plan on making all the accessories and see which I prefer to do on this compared to my Gorton 375.

Started working on Mr. Hall's Advanced Grinding Rest. Fun build so far. **LINK**

Thread: Scribing with verniers
03/01/2022 18:56:17

Here is another version : here

03/01/2022 18:55:15

It is a small piece of carbide. In my opinion it is a nice to have item

03/01/2022 17:52:10

You could always purchasing one of these: https://www.banggood.com/0-200mm-Measure-Scale-Ruler-0_05mm-Accurate-Parallel-Line-Digital-Vernier-Caliper-W-or-Case-Woodworking-p-1425961.html I have one and have used it a ton. Works great and comes with an extra carbide tip, I repurposed into a handheld scriber.

Edited: I just noticed the one I purchased is discontinued, but there are plenty of others that sell the same thing.

Thread: Building the Stent Tool and Cutter Grinder

Hi Thomas

If you “pm” me with your contact details, I’ll email you with all the copies of the articles I’ve managed to get hold of

Tony

Tony,

I sent a PM. Let me know if it went through. Thank you for helping out.

I am not sure what the Clarkson is if you are referencing my request. I have a Gorton 375-4 at my home, but I want to build a T&C grinder for the experience of it and to have a second option.

Sorry for reopening this topic, but can anyone point me in the right direction for copies of these older issues? I am looking at building a Stent and I would like copies of the magazines
