|Thread: Special nuts for various parts|
After making most of the bolts needed for the various parts, l had to find some proper nuts. None of the "off the shelf" nuts were what l wanted so l made them. The nuts were turned from bright round steel bar, turned to size and shape, threaded and the hex milled to size on the lathe. I am very pleased with the result. I need to make about 35 to 40 more but l made these over 30 or 40 years ago. Now l have a huge problem, l can't remember how l set them up to machine the hex.

Hi everybody, thank you for letting me join this excellent forum. My name is Joe Bonnell, l live in Queensland Australia. I am a retired engineer and worked at a college in Toledo Ohio for 6 years. I am building a Simplex model 1 and have nearly all the chassis made. I have only to finish off the Swing links and connect them up. To ensure all the chassis parts were accurate, l ground all the parts square on a surface grinder. This made an enormous difference with the build. I enjoy fishing and photography, designing parts on the computer and building in wood.
I hope l can contribute to the forum and offer a lot of technical knowhow for everyone.
