Thanks very much to all those who answered. Jason gets the prize with Forrest Classics,

Brian

Ive seen Keith Appleton use Forrest elbows and he's had to re-tap them as the thread in them is US

H

Harry

The U S tapped ones are probably the single finished machined items bought in from P M R in America as opposed to the casting sticks.

Thread: 3.1/2" gauge Don Youngs George

Posted by CJW on 27/05/2021 08:39:54:

Hi all,

I too have an interest in this locomotive. It is clear that some builders got at least part way through construction as there are photographs of models in various stages of development in issues of LLaS. That said, I have also had a look around for completed models and haven't been successful.

I would be keen to find out what the design flaws are so if anyone could refer me to where this information may be found that would be much appreciated.

Kind regards,

Chris

See thread on MECH which Jon has going at present.

Thread: Royal Mail scam
26/05/2021 14:35:01

After reading about the Royal Mail delivery scam on the forum, this result in the papers today makes good reading

Eight men have been arrested in dawn raids targeting scam text messages.

The suspects were allegedly involved in sending fake messages, primarily posing as Royal Mail and asking people to pay a fee to retrieve a parcel.

Thread: Any views on using Fairy Liquid in a concrete mix
24/05/2021 18:30:21
Posted by Gordon Smith 1 on 24/05/2021 18:27:10:

Back in the 1960's we used Daz.

We had a builder near us, best described as a happy chappy, he always used OMO wink

Artthur C Clarke is the clue.

My son is a builder -- says not required in concrete - waste of time

Some builders due use Fairy, probably do to them being too tight to buy FEBMIX which is the recommend additive , and as David Dickinson would say, cheap as chips,

Flawed Design - well documented.

SRS have had one part built chassis, etc, which sells and comes back and sells agin with no work carried out.

I did consider buying but research and advice from club members made it a no go.

PS   --  worth asking on thje MECH forum as you are a member . Also a search on there may help.

Thread: Professional rebuild ! (???)
23/05/2021 16:32:16

I would strongly adivise against getting old. Forgetfulness is the first sign. You could end up like me. .laugh

So why not do it yourself with the money you get from the carriers ,

A full strip down, repair and rebuild should be most rewarding plus knowledge gained may help other members in the future.

Wish you well with it.

Thank you for the correction

Ah, one who likes to nit pick. Not impressed by DO KEEP UP - hardly original and uncalled for.

bill

No, Harry They found he was squeaky clean

Just someone passing incorrect DHSS which prompted the investigation

He was more shocked than anything else aver what happened as he believed bank accounts and your details were confidential. Not to the Goverment departments it seems.
