Keith Hale is the one person I would trust 100% on matters of this nature.

Has helped me in the past on more than one occassion.

I am sure he has given you all the info you need.

Thread: Tender locos for a beginner?

+1 on Tony's viewpoint. If after 4 forum pages the OP has not made a decision about what to build, they simply need to do more of their OWN research. Plenty of photos, articles, etc on the web - easier than ever to research locomotives, and let's not forget libraries and used/new book vendors.

He does seem. to be going around in ever decreasing circles and we all know what that could lead to.wink

I fail to understand why newbies do not join a club and then ask the members for advice ?

15 minutes ago I bid on this, the seller has just blocked me and removed my bids, there's a pretty good chance he's reading this forum.

Good for you for having a go.

Agree he must be reading this forum, either as an outsider or more worrying, as a member ?

Ebay are aware and are monitoring him and say that he will be suspended or banned if need be.

Silphos is a definite no no on a coalf ired boiler firebox as you rightly say.

Noi dea on how you would tell, but suggest CuP Alloys would be worth calling up.

Contact and help at top of page

Clickon and then at bottonm of drop down it says -- Have us call you... Click on

Ebay will call you, usually in about a minute, then you can speak to a member of the team  -  obviosly have the item  number as that is the first thing they want after security check.

Wist I was clever like you

05/01/2021 20:22:09

Well, convince ebay then.

If enough of you do,you may succeed where I have failed.

Sounds as if enough proof exsists to me.

I did mention it to ebay, who said they would monitor it, though they could see no reason as to why it should be a scam.

Looks like the same person has just sold an Emco PC Mill 125 CNC Machining Centre so he could be on a hit list if he is a scammer.

And what if he is not a scammer ?

Because I already told you, he using photos of my lathe.

LOL at the beginning of your post could be taken as you were posting just having a laugh ? How were members supposed to know if it was a serious comment or not .

Thread: ME magazine late again

It is not the only magazine I am expecting that has not arrived.

I suspect that locally we no longer have a daily postal delivery. Should this surprise anyone?

Asked Postie today, he says it can be two or three days between collections and deliveries.

First class delivery today, posted TEN days ago. Better late then never me thinks smiley

Thread: Removing soft solder from brass before silver soldering

I file off the worse, as Jason above, then emery paper until all visible traces removed, then in the pickle overnight.

Wash and brush up with fairy liquid and away you go.

Thread: ME Beam Engine - Water Pump Connections
01/01/2021 13:00:37

Thanks Dave

That makes the thread read better, and thankfully OP managed to get the info .

01/01/2021 12:25:51

I did put up all the info and then managed to duplicate it so altered the duplicated one to say DUPLICATE REMOVED

I see the mods have managed to leave that one and deleted the reply that had all the info in which Paul thanked me for.

Try and get the original STUART castings from the Henley era. Worth trying ebay. They came in a plain brown box with a blue STUART label.

They are far superior than the ones currently available.

Thread: Stuart Turner
28/12/2020 18:44:58

Not as such, but a call to Andy is your best bet if you want to collect.

Offices are currently closed to callers.

The 180 is a twin piston single acting engine, which can be used for both flash and normal steam applications. It is an earlier version of the 1b MTB engine, and was probably made between 1910 and 1920.

Pre war and I will do some more digging as collecting Stuart engines is my passion.

Rather than clog up the forum, I will PM you info as and when.
