Thread: General thank you to members
15/05/2021 09:35:50

To save replying to so many messages and posts, may I say thanks to all who offerd advice and help both on the forum and privately which madea what to do for the best situation really quite easy to resolve.

Three lathes have all gone to forum members, all within a week - brilliant.

Tooling and everything else goes to a local mans club on Monday - I particlarly liked this suggestion.

A  very sincere thank you to you all .

Stay safe.

Thread: End of the road for me
14/05/2021 17:43:52

Thanks Brian H and Oldiron

Mens sheds are a new one on me but a quick google shows one about 5 miles away.

Just called the chap and he says they have a metal lathe and two members making trains so I cannot think of a better home . Well pleased as at least i will be in contact with chaps with same interest if only as a viewer

PS -- if you send a message and get no reply due to my clockwork computer smiley then please leave forum name on this thread and I will find some way of making contact

Jason, thanks reply

You are definitely more computer literate then me

Best to say a combination of my equipment and a thick user who is not a computer buff

Thanks for all your help - to be fair to you , can I just say you have always been most helpful and i send my sincere thanks.

Arthritis means no more workshop , so this is all saying to me, time to hang up my boots and log off before I am carried off

Wish you well

All sorted and contact made

But rather than receive a notification that there's a message, it would be far simpler if the message just arrived in my INBOX and to which I could reply by email.

Your view may differ!

With best wishes and thanks again.

I could not agree with you more - a nice simple solution

With best wishes and thanks again.

Thread: Tinplate locomotive identification
13/05/2021 12:49:56

These are Birmingham Dribblers , also known as Carpet Loco's as they are intended to run on floors / carpets and not use tracks

Best avoided if you have top quality Wiiton in your front room.

I have several, so PM if you need more help

Paint work not necessarily correct on  these and usually all brass - not tinplate ?

Any book , always compare abe with ebay.

Tried that for him initially.

Cheapest was £39 which was why I suggested ebay instead.
