I can't read MEW246 on pocket mags...
Thread: Is CNC cheating
So, how would a skilled machinist fair?
Does it make you a cheat if you are a skilled engineer for a day job, then relax in your shed using similar machines?
Thread: Improved manual covering GH1236 lathe
Best manual I've seen yet!
Real shame that Chester, (for example), can't produce something like this....

Thread: Moore & Wright Automatic Centre Punch Cat No 280
I had to have a look how they worked!
Thread: Secrecy...within the workshop?
I think a big change in the work place, is the skilled/time served, have been replaced by people with very limited experience. This new breed of worker, knows everything and needs to be shown nothing! (at least until they are stood looking at yet another batch of scrap parts that they know nothing of).
Years ago, information and experience were freely shared, and much appreciated. Now its all young/inexperienced people telling how to do my job.
Charts not parts.....
Thread: Those grub screw things with a spring loaded bearing on the end...
Many happy hours have been spent looking through their catalog
Thread: ER Ball Bearing Collett Nut - Care and Maintenance
I'd just return the nut, I'm sure the supplier will exchange for a good one
Thread: Chester Crusader threading/feed ratios
I have seen an article either on the forum or in MEW, I can't find it in either!
It was about alternative gear postions to the ones on the machine.
Could some kind soul point me in the right direction, please.
Thread: Ball race assembly
So Neil was winding us up
Thread: Bench vice hight for modern workshop
I have a very small vice mounted on the end of some 1 1/2" square bar, perfect for them little jobs
Thread: DRO usage
I wonder if the rad feature could be used on a lathe in a similar way.
I only ever use it for "point to point".
Does any one use it on a lathe to rough out rads?
This one page did a better job than the manual!
Thread: Deliberate mistakes
Got us thinking though, didn't it
Thread: Windows 10 forced upgrade
I too now have windows 10.
I hate the fact that its been forced on me
Thing that really made me angry was being held to ransom to use documents I created, just pay £8 a month
I went over to Libreoffice, all free. It was a pleasure to uninstall microsoft office, even though they put it back on occasionally.
Going back into my shed to cut some metal, which will be the same as i left it, unlike my laptop that someone in America seams to control and change at will.......
Thread: Stainless steel rod quality
How do you harden 303 stainless?
Thread: Buying First Metal Bandsaw
