Yes I agree. Working on early french cars has made my collection of metric taps and dies bigger than all my other taps and dies. I have 5 different size M10 taps!

A 4 x 0.75mm pitch thread was part of the old French standard for metric threads specified by the Comite de Normalisation de la Mechanique. Threads from 6mm diameter upwards conformed to the ISO system. The old French standard below 6mm has now been replaced by the ISO system.

It's for a pair of Cozette Blowers which are French, which is why it's an odd metric size!

Have you checked the brushes? Bosch grinders have a sprung loaded pin in the brushes, when it wears down the pin pops out and lifts the brush.

If you plate or other coat bolts and cap screws etc you can cause embritalnent or lower the tensile strength of items but there is no change to steel strength or structure with blackodising which is done by diping in to a caustic solution at 135 deg which causes a black coating Fe 3O4 which us rust preventative no change to steel structure. That is why Unbrako blackodise their cap screws.

None! The skin on my hands is very thick & tough and I lack sensitivity to hot surfaces. On the odd occasion when I have visited A&E to have cuts stitched up they curse like made as they struggle to get the needle through my skin!

When I did my apprenticeship we were only allowed to use 4 jaw chucks. You can set up a 4 jaw just as quick as a 3 jaw.

Most modern cars use spring loaded belt tensioners. Some cars use an adjustable pulley tensioner. You could make a tensioner with an arm and a weight on it so it gives constant pressure.

It could be a stub tooth gear form. There are common types Fellows and American Standard System. I had to make one for a 1910 Dennis engine. It turned out to be a metric version of the Fellows form. You have to use a bigger cutter than normal for the gear.Stub tooth formula

Top class race engines use depleted uranium weights on the crankshafts. They are extremely heavy for their size! Boeing aeroplanes have loads of it in the rudder controls.
