Thread: my work
Nice looking models, congratulations.
Have you seen any of the engines from Jan Ridders? Videos, details and plans from his website, here **LINK**
Thread: Faulty LED
Perhaps the new lamp is faulty.
Thread: Barrier Cream
There is a preservative used in cosmetics, including soaps, shampoos etc called methylisothiazolinone which can cause skin problems.
We've had to stop allowing it in our house as we both started suffering from cracked/dry skin.
A web search will bring up lots of reports but I have only included the Wiki link here as there are links there as well.

Thread: Recent threads
I think it is difficult to be non-offending to everyone due to the nature of us all.
In the recent past I have been politely told off for a reply I posted which was, in hindsight, deserved.
At the time of posting I had come from a different forum which sometimes needs a lot of tongue biting so had my sarcastic head on. This of course was not needed here but until it is pointed out I was oblivious too.
Writing in public I believe requires the same rules as cutting something - measure twice, cut once or type it, read it, digest it and if you're happy with it, then post it.
Thread: air blast cooling for mill - solenoid control ?
I would run it through a separate power relay. If the solenoid coil fails it could pull down the motor as well.
Thread: Drawing for a miniature quarter turn valve
Are you looking for construction drawings or layout drawings, also what size miniature?
Basic valve layout/data .... **LINK**

Thread: RequiredOutside Diameter to Cut 5/16 BSF Thread
Sometimes known as the major diameter IIRC.

Thread: New member intro!
Ah, dear Sharjah. I worked on the HVAC systems at the airport in the mid 70s. Interesting places compared with the UK.
Welcome to the forum Arsath.
Thread: tallow sticks
You can get tubs of tallow from places like Amazon. Fill the hole with a spatula of some sort.
Thread: 1959 Nsu quickly
And this has something to do with model engineering or am I missing something important?
This is also ignoring the fact that only a limited age range of members will understand "NSU Quickly".
Thread: Big Machines
Thread: The Chocolate Fireguard as designed by Mercedes Benz
Aaah, they must be the ones who haven't read the Highway Code then.
I put that down to the way dashboards are permanently illuminated now. If they couldn't see the dials then they would turn their lights on, hopefully.
Suitable sized drill bit hand turned?
Thread: gland packing
Depending on the service I would suggest graphite tape.

Thread: Dialect expressions
After working in and moving to Devon came across...
Where you to? As in, where do you come from/live?
Back along. As in, a while ago.
Thread: French Mystery Tool
Are we unique I wonder?
We travel around and buy odd bits of metal that have no obvious use to us but whose sole purpose is to start a debate down the pub on a quiet afternoon.
Thread: Is there a way to mask silver solder
Thread: AC Capacitor
Thank you for the update, always good to know when a problem is resolved.
Thread: Using a propane cylinder for partable compressed air.
Your cylinder should have the test pressure stamped on it somewhere.
It's probably a low pressure cylinder so the test pressure would have been around 480 - 500 psig.
