Thread: Dismantling Vertex HV6 Rotary Table
14/10/2018 14:26:07

Hi Brian wood I’m looking at your photo as I have a vertex HV6 brand new never been out the box til now & the winding handles missing, so will make one. Just can’t make out from your photo the handle & the washer that holds it on, it as slots in it I assume as the shaft is flat on either side with a 4 mm key placed in. Would you take a photo of the washer & handle on there own, with the collar separated away please.

Regards Rob

Pete Rimmer you say you had one like this, could you pull the grinding wheel toward you & it would spring back say a mm or two.

No, not at all Rob. The position of the two round weights in the middle set the front/rear clearance as I recall.

Thank you Pete, Al have you read this?

Phone up Jones&Shipman (Hardinge now) in Leicester, with the serial number in hand, and see if they've got a manual. If not, Tony at might have sufficient data.

No answer 😕

We have the gearbox drive case off the machine but no idea how we take the shaft out! Also how to adjust the end float! Please see photos below.

Inside the case when the brake unit has been removed. As you can see just a bearing inside a case, called in the manual as a bearing nut, above the belt pulley.Gate mill G301D

I got it off, a little heat from the heat gun & it just slides off. I will do a full video of the rebuild as nothing on utube for this mill. Gate turret mill G301D

Thats a good description, moped brake. I'm sure I have seen a head like this gate mill been worked on on utube or one of the forums but can't find it😕

Is the handle pinned on with a roll pin ? You might need to remove it to allow the casing to come off.

No roll pin

29/12/2016 05:22:54

Been told I need to remove a chamfered pin😮 Can't find it😕 Ordered a manual but as manuals go I won't hold my breath.

can't see properly but the lever coming from the centre boss looks like it's got a flat on it.

it doesn't just unscrew from the boss, does it?

No I think that part is like a rear brake drum of a car, but I'm not certain 🤔

Not much info there. Does the big hole in the background contain the spindle with a surface against which a brake shoe presses? It could be the shoe needs pressing back or does that handle need to come off?

No that hole take the motor, the spindle is the hole just behind the brake lever,
