Thread: What makes your bristle?
Someone scrubbing something else with it while You are not there. Made anybody mad lately?
Thread: Sending of heavy items
Just when I learn about a thing called "Metric" someone mentions "stone". Whose stones did they use? How did this come about? .
Thread: Using magnets
I have about 12" of hard drive magnets, cannot get another within about 6" of it or they get really friendly and will shatter one or two when they meet.
Thread: Todays DUMBO award
Whew, for a minute I thought I was going to get nominated for an award, thought no one was watching.
Thread: What would one use this adaptor for?
I have bought about 10 items and have had around 2 mistakes. They told Me to keep the item after sending a pic of the shipping order and the UPC on the box. They promptly sent the correct replacement. The next to last order of a tool holder came in minus a carbide insert. I thought "foul" did not say anything. Ordered another tool holder and it came with an extra carbide insert, "no harm, no foul."
Thread: Knurling speed
I have knurled Nylon and it seems as if there were a material that would be hard for the wheels to be forced into alignment, something soft would show the problem. Had no problems.
Thread: Unusual drills
Any idea what the friend did for a living?
Thread: Tap and Die
Victor Machinery in the States are known for sourcing odd ball taps and dies, if a last resort.
Thread: Jones and Shipman 540 Dripping
I did not know Triumph and Norton made lathes also. They must factor oil leaks in.
Thread: Why do we do it?
Ya know this forum has the ambiance of setting down with a couple of friends with a cup of tea or a brew or two. It is a great place to converse and ask questions, give answers, and generally have a relaxing time. The thread drift adds to it, and provides information in totally unexpected ways.
Thread: Cap head screws
Bulk fasteners are available in the USA.Tractor Supply, Rural King, Menards and Lowes all have Them. Plus many independent hardware stores.
Thread: Just Done Something Stupid!!
You are very brave to post Your mistakes, sometimes it seems like if I posted all My mistakes I would need My own forum.
Thread: Ingenuity in Simplicity
If He's got a shaper (and a telescope) He does not need much more fun.
Thread: Can opener - the holy grail in engineering?
The above opener is either a P-38 or a P-51 over here.
Thread: Huge dial gauge
Thread: Myford S7 countershaft bush temperature
Wonder if thicker oil would change the problem?
Thread: My wife thinks I'm loosing it
We took a small line train ride last year along about a 5 mile rail line along a creek bed. Train was advertised as the "high speed" model at 20 MPH. Every other one at the time must have been about 8 MPH. The Conductor wanted Us to set in the covered dining room car, We sat behind the engine and enjoyed (at least Me) the smoke and power and ashes of the engine. Everyone thought Us daft, Wife did not as there was no doubt in Her mind. Added a picture of a 12" universal joint on the train for the newbies.

Thread: Silver soldering bronze
As I have followed the forum for a while the problem of a flux not lasting long enough comes up regularly. Why even use the lower grade at all? Just go for the strongest at the get go.
