Hi Jason,

I have a problem. I want to but 2 Muncaster flywheels from lee but he doesn't post to Australia.

Could I ask if a fellow ME in England buy 2 for me and post to me here in Australia ? I would of course send over the money. It would be easier if the person has a Pay Pal account. They could find out from the local Royal mail PO how much it would cost for postage and add on some more for their troubles.

Regarding bending exhaust pipe.

I selected a piece of pipe longer than needed, crimped one end and then filled the pipe with solder.I then bent the pipe with my home made pipe bender, threaded one end ( reversing the die to finish up close to the bend ), cut off to length, deburr and finally heat up and pour out the solder.

Worked well for me!

Hi Jason,

Attached photos of my build so far. By the way I used your method to make the cross head guides, Thanks.

It may be of interest to others how I made a poor mans "soft jaws." for machining the cylinder cover. I bored out 3 large nuts to fit over the chuck jaws and added grub screws to hold them on the jaws. In this case I tightened up jaws on the nuts and then bored out a recess slightly smaller than the OD of the cover.

Regards,

John

ps sorry I could not work out how to insert photos

Thanks Jason,

I think I will look into doing it with the CNC mill.

Thanks Jason,

So the guides are actually pieces silver soldered together?

Hi Jason,

Thanks. Yes I am up to issue 4620 but awaiting some cast iron. 60 Dia mm as far as I can see you can't get it out of 50mm. Where is the extract for the gland?

I am using a Wabeco CNC mill for some parts it makes things much easier.

It would have been helpful if you could have given a list of materials when the series started as where I live I have to order from a company 2000KMS AWAY and have to wait quite a while for delivery.

Keep up the good work,

Regards,

John

Hi Jason,

In ME 4621 pp 457 Why are crosshead guides not symmetrical? ( mirror image )

Diamension 55.3 + 23.5 does not add up to 79.5 mm.

REGARDS,

John Chappell
