| 3 forum posts | Hi Everyone, I am trying to locate a riser block that would be for sale. I recently acquired a Bridgeport mill and need a riser block to give more clearance in the throat. I have managed to locate some in the states but unfortunately I am in the uk. Any help would be gladly accepted regards Dave |

181 forum posts 6 photos | Dave there was an article some time ago in the Amesrican magazine Home Shop Machinist regarding making one and I think it was made on the mill? Google HSM and see if you can search the archives. |

When you have found one, you can do this on your own. Sorry about the rotation, I cannot seem to turn it through 90. This uses the knee and table to lift the head, it weighs around 400lbs. Edited By KWIL on 17/08/2012 23:20:25 |

I was a bit uncertain with mine as it has a Beaver slotting head on the rear which is bigger and heavier than a Bridgy slotting head. I thought I may have to follow it up with a porto-power but no need, lifted Ok and was able to get a 4" spacer in.
Whilst the ram was lifted off I also took the opportunity to super glue 7 sticks of hard licorice to the inside of the main casting. This has made a world of difference and the Bridgy is twice as rigid as it was before.

Try putting an free advert on www.homeworkshop,org,uk FYI they come in 4", 7" and 10" sizes, 7" and 10" mean you have to pack everything off the bed to reach. With a 4" you still need a small block to stand on, I'm 5' 11" going on 5' 3" with age but still need a stand made up out of an old pallet.
