Martin Evans' book specifies 3.25 (82.5mm) O/D for the boiler barrell. I cannot find this diameter of copper tube anywhere. Has anyone built 3.5" Rob Roy with a different barrel diameter? If so how?

Thanks, Gary

Simon.

Trouble with Reeves at the moment is you phone them up ask a Q and usually get a blank
the person working there is certainly not ME orientated, Am told it is one of the familly who bought the company Going back about 15 yrs Reeves made me a Rob Roy boiler for £220.00 and a lovely job it was.
That I believe is all gone.

Andover club have a Rob Roy rally on Friday and Saturday (August 17th and 18th). Response has been poor but there will be a few examples in steam. All welcome.

Rex;

Saw a beautiful Rob Roy last weekend at the "PVLS" meet in Southwick, MA, USA, made by Keith Wood from Montreal.

I saw your announcement for the Rob Roy rally on some forums, and hope that, no matter how many show up, that you all have a good time celebrating this wonderful little locomotive.

Many thanks for that JohnS. In spite of a good plug in ME, postings on several related forums, e mails and posters sent to about a dozen "local" clubs I received just three enquiries! As far as I know, none of them are coming. (

There should be about 5 present tomorrow but who knows, others may turn up. Looks as though the weather might just hold up.

Nice to know there are examples ouside the UK!

Cheers,

Rex

Not the busiest two days but we all had a great time. One engine covered 6.4 miles! We will hold another Rob Roy rally next year, but probably just a one day event. All will be welcome.

Sorry to hear so few of the many hundreds that must have been built could make it. Unfortunatley mine emigrated to be with me in NZ about ten years ago and is unlikely to make the return trip. Pity as it started life only a few miles from Andover.

If its any consolation I saw a Rob Roy boiler being brazed up a few weeks ago, so they are still being made

On the day I borrowed a fellow Andover club member's driving trolley. It was so much better than the heavy old club ones that I am now making my own. thumbs up

I intend to do a short write up for the ME mag so if it gets printed you may see a few pics.

Neil, good to hear that the species is not endangered!smile
