| 88 forum posts | Possible Folding wing variant of the Typhoon for chucking out the back of Hercules transports. Could also bring back the Short Belfast as a "super carrier". I take it that the guys were well strapped in (in the Herc) wouldn`t like to get that close to an air intake. Reminds me of an old song "Come inside " etc.etc. Great pics Jason Alan |

| 522 forum posts 7 photos | I would think that flight that close to an open cargo door would be extremely risky, as the buffeting around the door could easily cause a compressor stall in the Typhoon. Could this be a near collision incident, or a Phototshop fake? These aircraft are FAR too close if it is a real photo. JD |

| 497 forum posts | Unfortunately the photo has been cropped far to closely to make sense of it - I would never have had any idea it wasn't just a ground photo if you hadn't described what the issue was. Indeed, on thinking about it, that could still be the case, there's nothing to contradict that. David Edited By David Littlewood on 26/07/2012 17:24:36 |

Moderator 2987 forum posts 355 photos | I'm sure the camera has shortened the perspective but the other photos in the album confirm it is in the air and not on the ground. |

| 497 forum posts | OK, now I believe it! Of course, if taken with a long lens from fairly far forward in the cargo hold, the perspective would make the Typhoon look a lot closer than it really is. David (Now I feel a bit like a party pooper...) |

3073 forum posts 255 photos | It's cropped compared to the previous shot, so perhaps the plane isn't as close as it might at first appear? That said if the MoD have no carrier what do we do if the Argentines invade the Falklands? Just strap George Osborne to an ICBM targetted on Buenos Aires; he can take control of their economy and bring them to their knees in weeks! Neil |

A minor cock up in the titling, RAF Lyneham is in Wiltshire not Oxfordsdhire Liked to clip and the little error doesn't detract from it. Cheers Martin |

| 239 forum posts 9 photos | Some years ago the planes from Lyneham could be seen practising low and slow over the M4 and Leigh Delamere services. The Hercules often had the rear door open, they were quite a sight and its a wonder there were not road accidents caused by distracted drivers. Edited By V8Eng on 28/07/2012 21:09:03 |

Ahh" Destiny, Symphony and Harmony".... seem to remember those had canards to... SIG Rhapsody and Melody will be upset to be excluded. The Angel Interceptor is the plane in question and considering it was designed around 1966, not too far from the aircraft we're seeing today.
It's not surprising that the aircraft featured in the various Anderson series looked so good. Both Derek Meddings and Mike Trim who designed most of them were both keen aircraft fanatics and often looked at what was on the drawing board and extrapolated it into the future. When Mike left the Century 21 studios, he went to work for Profile Publications artworking aircraft profiles. He also painted the cover painting of Jeff Waynes "War Of The Worlds" album and currently he's painting new box art for Airfix (all the space kits, HMS Hood to name a few). |

"Rhapsody and Melody will be upset to be excluded. The Angel Interceptor is the plane in question ..." No slight intended... And as my father would say..."when in hole..stop digging" .
